The end of a cycle: The evolution of Exotic Island in three phases
The development of the Exotic Island zone was carried out progressively to transform this part of the park into a complete themed destination.
- Phase 1: The launch began with the creation of a water play area to cool off visitors.
- Phase 2: The arrival of Mahuka, Intamin's thrill coaster, marked a major milestone in the park's appeal.
- Phase 3: The current expansion completes this ensemble with the addition of Répart'ta kar, the adventure course, and the botanical maze.
To discover more about this new area but also more generally about the transformation and attractions of Walibi Rhône-Alpes, here is our video (another huge thank you to the park for the invitation and the welcome).
An expansion focused on consistency and detail
It is at the heart of this third phase that we discovered the centerpiece, Répart'ta kar, a Zamperla Magic Bounce. The first model of its kind in Europe, it is themed as a repair garage for Mahuka's vehicles.
The queue line is packed with nostalgic details, including nods to the 90s and objects steeped with history. A local anecdote even links the decor to the creator of the female version of the Manneken-Pis in Brussels, whose tools are displayed in the queue.
Local roots and environmental commitment
The park has made it a point of honor to integrate this new addition into a sustainable and environmentally friendly approach.
- Circular economy: Almost all of the decoration in the queue line comes from recycled old objects and tools.
- Preserved biodiversity: A true ecosystem of frogs has naturally settled in the ponds under the Mahuka coaster, coexisting peacefully with the attraction.
- Greenery: The park has invested heavily in planting to create natural shaded areas, notably with the botanical maze which will fill out over the next two to three years.
- Expert collaborations: For the sound, the park worked with the Audio Gazer studio, while the adventure course is the work of the specialized company Kinderland.
A more inclusive park
One of the highlights of this new addition is accessibility. The Adventure Course was designed to be inclusive, with sections accessible by wheelchair and sensory experiences dedicated to people with reduced mobility. It also offers "hidden" and unique viewpoints of Mahuka's inversions.
Major announcements: 10 years of wild projects!
The future of Walibi Rhône-Alpes looks very dynamic with a 10-year investment plan:
- Two new Roller Coasters: A "Family++" model with a unique concept and a second, much larger coaster.
- New themed zones: Redevelopment of the former Tam Tam Tour and mini-farm sectors.
- Accommodation (2029): Opening of a stay offer, somewhere between a hotel and glamping.
Our opinion
Walibi Rhône-Alpes confirms its transformation into a destination park. The attention to detail, accessibility, and the desire to create immersive zones make this expansion a success. We can't wait to discover the future "steel monsters" promised for the coming years!
