Walibi Belgium
History of the resort
Walibi was conceived by Eddy Meeùs and inaugurated on July 26, 1975. This park is located in Belgium, on the outskirts of Brussels, in Wavre. It gets its name from the 3 municipalities where it is located: Wavre, Limal, Bierges. The park's mascot is a Kangaroo, in reference to the Wallaby, a species of Kangaroo.
Theme park
Walibi Belgium has been subject to several acquisitions that have slowed its development. Since 2006, it has been owned by the French group Compagnie Des Alpes, which also owns Parc Asterix.
The park has a seasonal opening from April to November, including Halloween events.
A major investment plan is underway to transform the park and attract new visitors. New themes and new attractions are planned for the coming years. The park consists of about forty attractions, allowing the whole family to have an excellent day with rides for children but also roller coasters for older visitors.
In 2021, the park is expected to inaugurate a new Intamin launch roller coaster which should hold some records.
Water park
Aqualibi complemented the theme park's offering in 1987. This aquatic complex consists of swimming pools, slides, and a wild river. The water park is open all year round.
