Opened in 2010, Universal Studios Singapore (USS) is the most compact of the Universal parks in the world. Do not expect the immensity of Orlando, but rather an ultra-efficient "best-of". The park is configured in a loop (horseshoe-shaped) around a large central lake, making navigation extremely simple and fast.
The Guide to Themed Zones
The park is divided into six distinct worlds, each with its own visual and audio identity. Walking through it clockwise, here is what awaits the community:
Hollywood
The atmosphere: This is the park’s entrance zone, inspired by the famous Californian boulevard of the 1970s. Lined with palm trees and Art Deco architecture, it mainly houses large souvenir shops and dining options. It is the ideal spot for character meet-and-greets at the beginning and end of the day.
New York
The atmosphere: Here, we dive into classic New York, with its brick facades, fire hydrants, and typical sidewalks. The zone recreates the golden age of East Coast film sets. The illusion is perfect, and the atmosphere is often very lively thanks to regular street shows.
Sci-Fi City
The atmosphere: A radical change of scenery with this futuristic district with cybernetic and intergalactic accents. Visually very impressive with its giant metallic structures, this is the park’s "thrill" zone, serving as a battleground between human and extraterrestrial forces.
Ancient Egypt
The atmosphere: A monumental recreation of 1930s Egypt, at the time of the great archaeological discoveries. Dominated by statues of pharaohs over 10 meters high and massive obelisks, the atmosphere is mysterious and particularly immersive.
The Lost World
The atmosphere: This zone is divided into two distinct areas. On one side, a total immersion in the prehistoric jungle of Jurassic Park, with its lush vegetation and military containment structures. On the other, the post-apocalyptic and industrial universe of the famous stunt show at sea.
Illumination's Minion Land
The atmosphere: The park’s brand-new major zone (which replaced the former Madagascar world). It is an ultra-colorful, cartoonish, and wacky district, entirely dedicated to the universe of Gru, the girls, and the Minions. The audio and visual atmosphere is particularly dynamic and festive.
Far Far Away
The atmosphere: The fairytale kingdom of Shrek and Fiona. The zone is entirely dominated by a magnificent 40-meter-high castle. It is a very successful world that parodies traditional fairy tales with a lot of humor in the details of its decor.
