Plopsa Coo
Nestled in the heart of the Belgian Ardennes, Plopsa Coo presents itself as a unique family destination, combining the fun of an amusement park with the natural splendour of the surroundings, particularly the famous Coo waterfalls. This site offers a playful and relaxing getaway, leveraging its exceptional setting to provide a memorable experience for visitors of all ages.
History and Development
The Coo site has a long history as a tourist attraction point, well before the arrival of the Plopsa group. Originally known as TéléCoo, then Parc de Coo, it already offered attractions integrated into the landscape, such as the iconic chairlift and a wildlife park. The acquisition of the site by the Plopsa group, a subsidiary of Studio 100, marked a turning point in its development. This takeover led to the gradual transformation of the park, integrating the famous Studio 100 characters while preserving and modernising the existing attractions and respecting the exceptional natural setting. Development continues with regular updates to infrastructures and offerings.
The Offering: Park, Accommodation and Activities
Plopsa Coo's offering is centred around its amusement park which offers a variety of attractions for the whole family, ranging from roller coasters to calmer rides, often themed around the popular Studio 100 characters. The park also retains historical attractions like the chairlift offering a spectacular panoramic view of the Amblève valley and the waterfalls. Regarding accommodation, Plopsa Coo does not have a hotel directly on the park site, but the Plopsa group offers accommodation options in the immediate vicinity, including a campsite and glamping possibilities, allowing visitors to extend their stay in nature. Beyond the park's attractions, activities like mini-golf are available on site, and the natural setting invites other leisure activities.
The Surroundings: Nature and Discoveries
The surroundings of Plopsa Coo are rich in nature and tourism. The site is dominated by the majestic presence of the Coo waterfalls, the most significant in Belgium, which attract numerous visitors. The Amblève river that feeds them offers opportunities for water activities such as kayaking in the immediate vicinity. The Ardennes region is a paradise for hiking enthusiasts, with many marked trails through forests and valleys. Nearby, historic towns like Stavelot, known for its abbey and museums, or Spa, famous for its thermal baths and its history related to motorsport, offer options for cultural visits and relaxation, thus complementing the experience at Plopsa Coo.
