Parc Spirou is located in the Vaucluse region, 20 minutes north of Avignon, in the municipality of Monteux. This theme park is dedicated to the universe of the Belgian comic book publisher Dupuis. You'll find characters from Spirou (naturally), Lucky Luke, The Marsupilami, Zombillenium, and many others.
Announced for an opening in spring 2015, the park finally opened to the public on June 16, 2018. At that time, SPIROU park had 10 attractions; today it has 20. During the park's design, the initial objective was 480,000 visitors for the inaugural year. Attendance expectations were not met: the first year closed with 120,000 visitors. In 2019, 6 new attractions were introduced and attendance doubled, closing with 280,000 visitors.
As you know, the year 2020 saw several months of opening cut short. The park therefore opened its doors on Saturday, June 20. 5 new attractions are planned for this year; only 2 were already available during our visit.
