La Mer de Sable is an amusement park that opened in 1963. It is located in the Ermenonville forest in the Oise department. It is the oldest operating amusement park in France.

The La Mer de Sable amusement park is divided into 3 different worlds:

  • The Arizona Desert with its sand dune
  • The Colorado Canyon regarding the conquest of the West
  • The Mississippi Valley, an exotic world

The park covers 55 hectares and is primarily aimed at families with children under 14 years old. It offers about twenty attractions and numerous play areas.

La Mer de Sable is especially known for its shows, including the train attack show which has been performed since the amusement park opened.

In 2021, the park opened Silver Mountain. It is a family roller coaster. The attraction is the most themed in the amusement park. Its location, at the top of the hill, offers a superb view of the valley and the dune.

La Mer de Sable takes its name from an ancient sea that receded and left its sand. The Stampian Sea left islets, dunes, and sandbanks there. The actor Jean Richard created the park there in 1963, and with its sand, nothing better than to create a park with the American West as its main theme.

In 2019, the park welcomed 340,000 visitors.
