Located in Doswell, north of Richmond, it is the historical twin of Kings Island (opened a bit later by the same company). It features a similar initial layout, but with a very different atmosphere and selection of attractions.
The Resort
- Location: Doswell, Virginia, USA.
- Landmark: Its own replica of the Eiffel Tower (identical to the one at Kings Island) at the end of International Street.
- Environment: Heavily wooded (the central area is actually called Old Virginia), offering plenty of shade, which is very welcome in the Virginia climate.
Kings Dominion (Theme Park)
A park that has managed to preserve its historical charm while offering extreme thrills.
Key Attractions (Major Coasters):
- Project 305 (formerly Intimidator 305): An absolutely massive Intamin Giga Coaster. Known for being one of the most intense coasters on the planet due to its speed (145 km/h) and its ground-level turns that regularly cause greyouts.
- Twisted Timbers: A superb RMC conversion (Hybrid Coaster) of the former wooden coaster Hurler. Smooth, filled with airtime and tricky inversions.
- Dominator: A massive B&M Floorless Coaster featuring one of the world's largest vertical loops.
- Racer 75: The classic twin-track wooden coaster (which launched the wooden coaster renaissance in the 1970s).
- Tumbili: An S&S 4D Free Spin for more compact thrills.
- Kids' Area: Planet Snoopy, very well-themed and ideal for families.
Soak City (Water Park)
Just like its Ohio twin, the water park is included with admission and fully integrated into the complex.
- Facilities: A huge wave pool, interactive play structures for children (Splash Island), and thrill slides like Paradise Plunge and Aqua Blast.
