Futuroscope
This amusement park located in Vienne, near Poitiers, opened in 1987. It is owned by the Departmental Council of Vienne and operated by the La Compagnie des Alpes group (Parc Asterix, Walibi among others). It attracts approximately 2 million visitors each year.
Oriented around technology and the future with attractions primarily featuring image projection, the park developed, but the vision of the future became obsolete, and the park began to lose its appeal. It even came close to bankruptcy in 2002.
Major changes arrived in 2003 with a renewal of the main attractions, and the park diversified its offerings. In 2005, changes continued on the attractions to regularly offer new features. In 2014, the park invested in licenses with Les Lapins Crétins (Raving Rabbids) then Arthur. It also partnered with DJ Martin Solveig to create an attraction on the theme of music and dance, moving away from purely screen-based experiences.
In 2020, the amusement park opened its first roller coaster, Objectif Mars (Objective Mars), from manufacturer Intamin. At the same time, the park announced a 300-million-euro investment plan over 10 years to renew itself, create new accommodation and restaurant offerings, and also a water park.
