Freizeit-land Geiselwind
Freizeit-Land Geiselwind is a leisure complex located in Bavaria, Germany. It combines an amusement park with accommodation options, offering a destination for a day trip or an extended stay focused on entertainment and relaxation. The site has developed over the decades to become a popular spot for families and thrill-seekers.
History and Development
Freizeit-Land Geiselwind was founded in 1969 by Ernst Mensinger. Originally, the site focused on wildlife, presenting itself as a bird park and a safari park. Over the years, the offering diversified with the progressive introduction of leisure attractions, transforming the park into a true amusement park. A major change in ownership occurred around 2017-2018, when the park was acquired by the Mattar family. Under this new management, significant investments were made to modernize the infrastructure and add major new attractions, thus increasing its attractiveness and capacity.
The Resort's Offerings
The main offering at Freizeit-Land Geiselwind is its amusement park. It offers a variety of attractions ranging from roller coasters and drop towers for thrill-seekers to family rides and play areas for the youngest visitors. The park also retains some of its origins with the presence of certain animals and animal shows. Stunt shows and other entertainment complete the daily entertainment offer. For accommodation, the complex has an on-site hotel, Hotel Traumland, allowing visitors to stay in immediate proximity to the park. CAMPING options are also available. These accommodation options allow visitors to fully enjoy the park over several days or take a break during a trip.
The Surroundings
Freizeit-Land Geiselwind is located in the Franconia region of Bavaria. The surroundings offer a mix of nature and cultural sites accessible by car. The nearby Steigerwald Nature Park offers opportunities for hiking and outdoor activities in a forest setting. For those interested in history and culture, the cities of Würzburg and Bamberg are within a reasonable distance. Würzburg is known for its Residence, a Baroque palace classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site, while Bamberg boasts a well-preserved medieval historic center, also listed by UNESCO. These cities offer options for cultural visits, shopping, and dining to complement a stay in the region.
