History and Development
Flamingo Land began as a simple zoo in 1959, founded by Edwin Pentland Hicks. Initially called "Yorkshire Zoological Gardens", it housed a small collection of exotic birds, including flamingos, hence its current name. Over the years, the park has gradually transformed into a leisure complex, with the addition of attractions and rides. In the 1970s and 1980s, Flamingo Land underwent significant expansion, becoming a true amusement park. Mr. Hicks' family still owns and operates the park.
