Familiepark Drievliet, located on the outskirts of The Hague in the Netherlands, is a family amusement park that, despite its compact size, is full of attractions to entertain visitors of all ages. Known for its pleasant atmosphere and accessibility, Drievliet offers a day of concentrated adventures, from thrilling roller coasters to refreshing water playgrounds and entertaining shows. This park has evolved over the years to become a popular leisure destination in the Randstad region, offering a fun escape filled with laughter and thrills.

An Evolution from Garden to Amusement Park

The history of Drievliet dates back to 1938, when the site began as a simple café and tea room with a large garden. It was after the Second World War, in 1951, that the site began to take the form of a leisure park with the construction of a playground. Over the years, Drievliet gradually added more and more elaborate attractions, evolving from a simple play area to a full-fledged amusement park. The park has managed to integrate a remarkable variety of rides into a relatively limited space, becoming an example of space optimization. Long remaining independent, Drievliet took another important step in its development in March 2024 by joining the Looping group, a European operator of leisure parks. This acquisition opens up new perspectives for the future of the park, potentially in terms of investments and new attractions, while building on the heritage and friendly identity that have made its reputation.

Attractions for Everyone and Nearby Accommodation Options

Familiepark Drievliet offers a varied range of attractions that aims to satisfy all members of the family. The park has more than 30 attractions (according to sources) ranging from children's rides to thrill rides. Speed enthusiasts can test their courage on roller coasters such as Formule X, Kopermijn or Twistrix, while attractions such as The Kwal (an Enterprise-type ride) and Magic Bikes offer other types of sensations. The park also offers popular water attractions, including the Jungle River wild river and a Spray Park for interactive water games, as well as slides. Play areas, a ghost train ("Spookmuseum") and various shows throughout the day complete the entertainment offer. Drievliet is characterized by the proximity of its attractions, which makes the park easy to navigate, even with young children.

Although Familiepark Drievliet does not have an integrated hotel complex directly on the park site to qualify as a "resort" in the classic sense, its strategic location offers numerous accommodation options nearby. Many hotels are available in the nearby cities of The Hague and Rijswijk, a few minutes' drive from the park. These hotels offer different levels of comfort and price, allowing visitors to plan a multi-day stay in the region and combine a visit to Drievliet with other tourist activities. Booking platforms often offer packages including park entry and accommodation in surrounding hotels, making it easy to organize a short stay centered around visiting the park.

At the Crossroads of City and Coast: The Surroundings of Drievliet

One of the advantages of Familiepark Drievliet is its privileged location in the Randstad region, between The Hague and Rijswijk. This location places the park in close proximity to a large, dynamic city and the Dutch coast, offering visitors many opportunities for exploration outside the park. The Hague (Den Haag), seat of the Dutch government, is full of cultural attractions, renowned museums (such as the Mauritshuis), palaces and historic districts. The proximity of the coast also makes it easy to get to Scheveningen, the most popular seaside resort in the Netherlands, with its beach, pier, restaurants and seaside attractions.

Neighboring towns such as Rijswijk and Delft, known for its picturesque canals and blue earthenware, are also within easy reach and worth a visit. As the park is well served by public transport and accessible by car, it is a convenient starting point for discovering the diversity of South Holland, whether it is exploring the urban environment, enjoying the coast or visiting other sites of interest in the region. Drievliet's location thus offers an interesting balance between the concentrated entertainment of the park and the many opportunities for activities and discoveries in its immediate and wider surroundings.
