While the 2025 season is already set to be festive for the resort's 30th anniversary, PortAventura World is looking further ahead and has just unveiled, during the FITUR trade fair in Madrid, its two major investments for the summer of 2026. True to its development strategy focused on families, the Spanish resort is banking on two immersive experiences combining technology and nature.
Here is everything you need to know about Coral Bay, The Lost Legend (La Légende Perdue), and Makamanu Jungle, The Adventure Trek.
Coral Bay: A Record Extension for Caribe Aquatic Park
The resort's water park, Caribe Aquatic Park, is set to benefit from a facelift and a massive 6,000 m² expansion. Named "Coral Bay, The Lost Legend," this new themed area plunges visitors into the world of piracy.
The concept is appealing: a pirate bay, submerged for centuries, resurfaces from the depths of the ocean. But beyond the theming, it is the technical content that impresses:
- A "Water Coaster" unique in Europe: The centerpiece will be a family water coaster. While precise technical details remain to be confirmed, the announcement of a "unique in Europe" experience suggests an innovative course combining speed and splashes.
- A world exclusive: The area will include an "adventure pool" featuring a water obstacle course that is unprecedented worldwide.
- A complete offering: New slides and a themed dining spot will complete this area, strengthening Caribe Aquatic Park's position among European leaders.
Makamanu Jungle: A Return to Polynesia’s Roots
In the main park, the Polynesia area will receive the second new addition: Makamanu Jungle, The Adventure Trek.
Far from traditional mechanical rides, Makamanu offers an outdoor "adventure course." The name, inspired by Polynesian mythology, literally means "the bird's gaze." This promise translates into an elevated route:
- Active exploration: Visitors will cross secret walkways, suspended bridges, and tackle physical challenges integrated into nature.
- Original Spirit: This new feature appears to be a direct response to fans who sometimes regretted the lack of interactivity in the Polynesia area. The idea is to rediscover the wild and mysterious essence of the park's early days, while offering a fun physical activity for children and their parents.
Park Trips Analysis: An Asserted Family Strategy
At Park Trips, we particularly appreciate PortAventura's commitment to not limiting itself to adding pure "rides," but rather offering truly immersive environments.
The addition of a Water Coaster at Caribe Aquatic Park is excellent news, as the park lacked a "signature" attraction capable of competing with the best worldwide installations. As for Makamanu Jungle, it is a smart choice to revitalize the Polynesia area, which, although magnificent, sometimes lacked dynamism for the younger audience.
The opening of these two new additions is scheduled for the summer of 2026. Until then, the resort will already be busy with its 2025 celebrations. One thing is certain: PortAventura World continues to consolidate its place as an essential destination in Europe by listening to visitor feedback.
