Paultons Park: Serpent’s Curse, the UK's first Water Coaster is revealed!

In our previous article (Paultons Park Accelerates Its Development with Major New Attractions), we already highlighted the spectacular transformation of this UK theme park located near Southampton. Between the inauguration of the Ghostly Manor dark ride and the opening of the brand-new Norse-themed area Valgard, Paultons Park proves it is no longer relying solely on its reputation around Peppa Pig World, but is establishing itself as a must-visit family destination in Europe.

Today, the park is stepping up a gear with construction underway for its most ambitious project to date: Serpent’s Curse, the UK’s very first Water Coaster, scheduled for 2027.

A Major Water Attraction Built by Mack Rides

To fill the void left by the retirement of Raging River Ride, Paultons Park turned to world-renowned German manufacturer Mack Rides.

Set at the heart of the Valgard land, Serpent’s Curse promises an experience that is both thrilling and refreshing:

• Top speed: Nearly 70 km/h (44 mph) at the bottom of the main drop.
• Thrills: A layout combining banked curves, airtime moments, and a spectacular dive into a large splash pool.
• Capacity: 4 boats running simultaneously to ensure high throughput, complete with a dedicated maintenance area featuring a transfer track.

Behind the Scenes of a Major Construction Site

Located on the former go-kart track site, construction is progressing at a steady pace. The first impressive milestones are already visible:

• Foundations and civil engineering: Dozens of concrete piles have been driven deep into the ground to support the station’s massive structure and the towering support columns.
• Structural erection: Specialist ride installers RCS have started erecting the first support columns, which already dominate the Valgard skyline. Bright yellow track pieces will soon complete the structure.
• Water engineering: The water propulsion system is being installed, featuring two powerful turbines designed to create the current needed to navigate the boats from the splash pool back to the station.
• Logistical challenge: Unlike the rest of Valgard, this site has only a single access road for cranes and heavy machinery, requiring precise timing before the central pool can be fully completed.

Reimagined Fun for the Entire Family

True to its reputation, Paultons Park maintains its high standard of detailing and accessibility for younger guests:

• Rich Viking immersion: Despite early fan skepticism based on initial concept art, the park confirmed that a vast array of custom props (imported directly from the Philippines) will be placed throughout the ride area and station building.
• Retheming Seal Falls into Little Serpents: To give younger children their own water adventure, the neighboring junior water ride is receiving a complete makeover with new boats and matching thematic elements.
• Dedicated services: A brand-new building will house the ride’s gift shop as well as the photo kiosk.
