Yes, we are crazy. We are going for a weekend at Parc Asterix right after the Zone Interdite report but it is to better tell you how busy days unfold in this amusement park. Here we go for a 2-day stay with a night at the Cité Suspendue to discover the 2023 novelties and try to get a bit of information about the progress of the 2024 construction site in the Egyptian zone.
The new Festival Toutatis zone
The new attractions are located in a new zone called Festival Toutatis, which is behind Trace du Hourra. It is very pretty, but we immediately notice a traffic problem because this area is a dead end, so it is very congested. Apart from that, it is well done with its festive atmosphere in honor of the god Toutatis. You will find the 2 new attractions there, a play area, new food outlets, and a shop for the new roller coaster.
It's always nice to have a new play area for children who seem to really appreciate this space to let off steam. With its Toutatis statue, its garlands, the Festival Toutatis zone is pleasant and allows for good views of the roller coaster track.
Our opinion on the Toutatis roller coaster
The Toutatis coaster is the big asset of this zone. It is visible from a distance to attract the most daring to defy the ritual. The road is blocked, you'll get out by a pirouette, and that's exactly what happens. This roller coaster starts with a first gentle launch and a fun beginning of the ride before attacking the triple launch to pass the peak. It's fluid, well executed, but we just regret the braking being too strong after the top hat.
Summary of the stay at Parc Asterix
Despite a very high attendance, we were able to do the main attractions of the park also by using the Single Rider lines when they were open. The park still lacks maintenance on attractions that are nevertheless recent, and we really wonder how it will go for Toutatis.
Pegase Express, T2Z, and OzIris are still just as good, and we finally got wet on the raft ride.
The other big change is the new effects at Grand Splatch as well as the addition of the area to enjoy the famous splash, either behind glass or to get wet. A tip, don't get on the right side of the boat, you will come out completely soaked (on the left, you will be damp).
Security guards are always present in the queues, but it's the big return of queue jumping with too many people "joining" someone further along; that's fine once, but it continues all day and everywhere.
